The house —unique in all the valley— was set high on top of a hill. From there one could see the river and, next to the corral, the mature field of corn with the flowers of the bean that always promised a good crop. The unique thing that the land needed was a rain, or a strong down pour. During the morning, Lencho —that knew very well the field— had not done more than examine the sky toward the northeast. —Now the water will come. And the old woman, that prepared the food, responded it: —God wants it. The largest boys worked in the field, while the smallest played near the house, until the woman shouted to all: —Time to eat.. When they started eating, as Lencho had said, large drops of rain began to fall. By the northeast was seen to advance large mountains of clouds. The air was fresh and sweet. The man left to seek something in the corral only to feel the rain in the body, and upon entering he exclaimed: —These are not drops of water that fall of the sky; they are new currencies; the large drops are currencies of ten cents and the small drops are of five.. He looked at the mature field of corn with the flowers of the bean with satisfied eyes. It was all covered by the transparent curtain of the rain. But, suddenly, a strong wind began to blow and with the drops of water there began to fall very large hail. They seemed like new silver currencies.
