Taming of the Shrew
In Shakespeare’s comedy The Taming of the Shrew” Katherine is a very interesting character. Thought out the play she goes through a series of changes. Though out this paper I will analyze the character of Kate by telling how she has changed, why she has changed and what the outcome of her changes are. First of all, Kate changed tremendously through out the play. When we first met her in Act one when she was with her father and sister Hortensio and Gremio talking on the street. Baptista, Kate’s father was conversing with Banica’s suitors, Hortensio and Gremio. Baptista stated that he would not give Bianca’s hand in marriage until Kate was married. Gremio went on to say, “to cart her, rather. She’s too rough for me.” (Act 1, Sc. 1, Line 55) This is where we get our first impression of Kate.
