Abortion has been recently brought back to our attention with all the hype that the subject is receiving from the media. Because of the good record keeping, we can tell that abortion has been around for many years. In long ago times, if the abuse that women received in her abdomen did not kill the unborn child, then a long, grueling ride on horse back would cause the death of the unborn fetus. Also, because of the shortage of food and water, tribes had to leave the area where they were staying. These long hours of riding horseback would cause the mother to have the unborn baby prematurely. The baby was either left for dead or killed by another tribe member. This would be very hard on the mother, and in most cases this type of birthing process would kill the mother. Many people feel that abortion is an act of murder because of there religious beliefs or because of their morals and values. In the Bible it states, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you."-Jeremiah 1:5. Pro-life supporters have often based there argument on this particular scripture. Unborn life is seen to be equal that of born life. The Jewish faith generally teaches against not only abortion, but also infanticide, which is defined as the act of killing an infant. One exception might be that the continuation of a pregnancy poses a risk to the life of the mother. There are many different options besides abortion. One option the mother has is to put the child up for adoption. This would benefit the parents of the child, who might not be able to take care of the baby for whatever reason they might have.
